Wetherspoons set to host 12-day beer festival at Gedling borough pubs

A 12-day festival will run at 11 Wetherspoon pubs in and around Gedling borough offering around 30 ales including international guest brews for £1.49-£1.99

Real ale lovers will be able to enjoy discounts on a range of quality brews at Wetherspoon pubs around Gedling borough during their latest 12-day beer festival this October.

A Wetherspoon Beer Festival will get under way on October 9 at UK pubs – three of them around the borough – and customers will have a chance to try a range of cut-price real ales costing just £1.49 – £1.99 a pint, several of which will not have been previously available in the pub chain.

Among those on sale during the festival, which will run until October 20, will be a pick of five from international breweries including Racer Session by Central City Brewery in Canada and Who Dat from America’s Urban South.

There will be a wide range of reduced-price beers from breweries across the UK too, adding to a choice of up to 30 real ales, all priced from £1.49 to £1.99 a pint. Other international brews featured will be Dinner Ale from Townshend Brewery in New Zealand; Orihime Pale Ale from Ishii Brewing in Japan and All Dog Alert by Yazoo Brewing in the US.

UK options will include the likes of Born to be Mild by Conwy Brewery; Sun Lounger by Fyne Ales Brewery; Salem Session IPA from Batemans Brewery; Mango in the Night by Rudgate Brewery and Sapphire Spoon by Titanic Brewery. Beer fans can also try the likes of Banoffee Pie Golden Ale , made by Maxim Brewery, and Loch Lomond Brewery’s The Gloaming.

There also will be ales suitable for vegans and vegetarians plus tasting notes so that customers can learn about the different malt and hop varieties they are sampling from around the world as well as ingredients such as coffee and fruit. They can also choose three third-of-a-pint tasters for the price of a pint.

Marketing manager Jen Swindells said: “The festival is a great celebration of real ale.

“It will allow us to showcase a selection of superb beers, including those from brewers as far afield as Japan and New Zealand, as well as those closer to home, over a 12-day period.

“All of the beers will be available at great value- for- money prices.

“The festival will also give our customers the opportunity to enjoy a number of beers which have not previously been available in the pubs, as well as those brewed specially for the festival.”

Three third-of-a-pint tasters will also be available for the price of a pint.

Of the local pubs taking part in the festival, the three in Gedling borough taking part are The Ernhale in Arnold, The Free Man in Carlton and Woodthorpe Top in Mapperley.
